Big Sur and the Monterey Peninsula
It’s been a long drive today through some of the most awesome scenery I have ever seen.
We left San Simeon this morning and after a few minutes saw ‘Elephant Seal Vista’. We stopped – expecting of course not to see any seals at all – first glimpse of the beach – saw this guy…
but that wasn’t it – there were loads of them! Take a look at the pics. We also saw the cutest little chipmunk.
We carried on up the coast and I cannot describe some of the amazing views – you’ll have to take a look at the pics – sorry but I got very snap happy, its just incredible.
At Monterey you pay $10 to access the ’17 mile drive’ around the Peninsula – Matt was very pleased with the views of apparently legendary golf courses, I was very impressed by yet more views of amazing coastline (and got even more snap happy).
Now bedding down for the night in another cheap motel and eating pizza. Just keeping it real.

Okay, it’s not even been a week yet and I am offically green with envy. Just the idea of sitting a cheap motel, eating pizza’s making me jealous. Plus the fact that I’m sat here at work reading this… can you make sure you keep us posted of any rain/arguments/minging motels please? Just for my own sanity, otherwise I might quit my job and come join you. Then you’d have a gooseberry hanging round with you for a whole year, and no-one wants that!! xxx

Your photos are great so far… keep it up…..Matt, sooo dissapointed with you, only 5 days into your holiday and you`ve lost your technical skills already – The link to “Big Sur and the Monterey Peninsula” on your photos page does not seem to be working and I’m sat here at work with nothing to do for the next 30 mins as I had it scheduled for viewing your photos! FIX IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fixed it, Doh! Sorry. Was distracted by the pizza – and Ria don’t worry the cheap motel at Pismo Beach was pretty minging.
Hey chaps, just looked at the latest pikkies. They are awesome. So many seals in the one place. Beats Wales even. I liked the one of Matt splashing his boots!! Dad has put the one of you both on a rock as his wallpaper on the computer! So we get to say hi every time we go on, aaaah! Having spent 6 hours in southampton today Xmas shopping – to no avail – I know where I would prefer to be! How is Rachels driving skills coming along?
